Fatal crash in Independence early morning
Independence Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are looking into a tragic incident that occurred early on Saturday morning, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The collision occurred at around 4:30 a.m. on 23rd Street close to Emery. A man was walking on the eastbound lanes of 23rd Street when he was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder. Despite being taken to the hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Nissan Pathfinder remained at the scene and is assisting authorities with their inquiries. The eastbound lanes of 23rd Street were shut down for approximately three hours as evidence was gathered by officers. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
