Fatal crash in Elk Grove caused by intoxicated driver, according to police
A tragic accident in Elk Grove Saturday morning is suspected to be related to drunk driving, as reported by the Elk Grove Police Department. The incident occurred when a Lexus collided with a tree on Elk Grove Boulevard between McKenna Drive and Backer Ranch Road. The driver, a 23-year-old man who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene. Prior to the fatal crash, the same vehicle was involved in a minor hit-and-run with another vehicle at Elk Grove Boulevard and Fire Poppy Road, according to police.
