Fatal crash in East Bay as stolen car driver collides with vehicle: sheriff's office
A tragic incident occurred in Contra Costa County where a passenger lost their life after a stolen Infiniti crashed into their car. The events unfolded early on a Sunday when Pittsburg Police Department officers were alerted to a collision involving two vehicles. California Highway Patrol officers had spotted the stolen Infiniti sedan racing at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour on Highway 4, before eventually catching up with it in Pittsburg. Despite attempts to stop the vehicle, the driver continued to flee, leading to a brief chase that ended abruptly when the Infiniti collided with another vehicle. Both drivers were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Regrettably, a passenger in the second vehicle involved in the crash was pronounced dead at the scene. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office, supported by the CHP’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team, is currently looking into this tragic incident.
