Fatal crash in Dalton City involving ammonia tank
A tragic incident occurred near Dalton City, Ill., where a Tuscola man lost his life when his vehicle collided with an anhydrous ammonia tank. Thankfully, the tank remained intact, preventing any ammonia leakage. According to Lieutenant Scott Flannery, the Macon County Sheriff's Office received a report of the accident on 85th Street near Gosnell Road. The collision involved a sedan driven by Thomas G. Dueker, 51, who unfortunately did not survive the crash. While the tractor towing the anhydrous ammonia tank was initially cited for improper lane usage, further investigation is underway, and additional charges may follow. The Sheriff's Office advises drivers to exercise caution, especially on rural roads during the harvest season, when reduced visibility and increased agricultural activities pose heightened risks.
