A tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Courtland Township resulting in the death of a 30-year-old man from Rockford who was involved in a collision between his motorcycle and a car. The accident, which took place at the intersection of Northland Drive and 13 Mile Rd around 2:00 p.m., involved the man traveling southbound on Northland Drive on his motorcycle and colliding with a sedan driven by a 32-year-old man from Sparta who was making a left turn. The motorcyclist sadly passed away at the scene, while a passenger in the sedan sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. The deceased individual's name has not been disclosed by deputies. Initial reports suggest that speed may have played a role in the crash, prompting an ongoing investigation by the Kent County Sheriff's Office Traffic Safety Unit.
