Fatal crash in Compton involving 3 vehicles
A tragic car accident in Compton on Friday evening resulted in the loss of two lives, as confirmed by authorities. The incident occurred around 9:17 p.m. near the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Sportsman Drive, just east of the 710 Freeway overpass. According to a spokesperson from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Compton station, the collision occurred when one vehicle traveling south on Atlantic Avenue collided with another vehicle before hitting a third one. Regrettably, the occupants of the first and third vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene, while a person from the second vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Video footage captured by KTLA shows emergency responders working to extricate the individuals from the vehicles, which were left on a bridge over the Los Angeles River following the crash.
