Fatal Crash in Clear Creek Canyon After Crime Spree
Two individuals have tragically passed away following a criminal incident and a collision in central Colorado. The Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office reports that during the afternoon, their officers attempted to stop a 29-year-old man driving a minivan who was believed to have committed over twenty vehicle break-ins in the preceding two weeks, including the theft of ammunition and a weapon. The suspect evaded authorities by driving onto the wrong side of Interstate 70 at Exit 244, prompting law enforcement to discontinue the chase. The minivan then turned around, fled in the opposite direction, and was pursued by deputies until it crashed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a fatal collision with a 27-year-old woman. Both drivers involved in the crash lost their lives, while a female passenger from the suspect's vehicle was hospitalized with undisclosed injuries. The investigation into the break-ins and the identities of those involved remain undisclosed at this time. The incident caused a lengthy closure of Highway 6.
