
Fatal crash in Botetourt County leaves three dead
A tragic incident occurred in Botetourt County, Virginia, on March 31, resulting in the loss of three lives in a single-vehicle accident. The Virginia State Police are currently examining the details of the incident which took place on Roanoke Road. The crash happened at approximately 6:22 p.m. when a 2016 Jeep Wrangler veered off the road and struck a tree. The driver, James Roosevelt Winston, aged 61, from North Chesterfield, was identified as one of the deceased occupants. Unfortunately, Winston was pronounced dead at the scene despite wearing a seatbelt. The other two occupants, William Julian Cosby, 50, and Corey Allen Byrd, 34, who were not wearing seatbelts, also lost their lives in the accident. Law enforcement officials suspect that speed may have played a role in the crash; however, the investigation is still ongoing.
