Fatal crash in Baltimore County after leaving traffic stop, according to troopers

Three individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident when their vehicle caught fire after fleeing a traffic stop on I-695 in Baltimore County, as per Maryland State Police. The incident began when a trooper stopped a Jeep near Greenspring Avenue on I-695 before the driver sped away. Despite the trooper not pursuing and turning off emergency lights, he discovered the Jeep engulfed in flames off the I-83 ramp. Following the Jeep's apparent loss of control, collision with an embankment and tree, the vehicle caught fire upon exiting the ramp, resulting in the driver and two passengers being pronounced dead. Additionally, a Maryland State trooper was struck by a suspected impaired driver on I-695. The trooper had just completed a traffic stop and was inside a marked police vehicle with emergency lights on when a Honda, driven by a Baltimore County woman later identified as Harriet Penniman Van Kleeck, cut across two lanes and struck the police vehicle in a collision. The trooper was hospitalized but has since been released. The driver, Van Kleeck, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and traffic violations in connection with the incident. Furthermore, a vehicle crash into a Baltimore County apartment complex on April 4 displaced four individuals, as per the Baltimore County Fire Department. The incident occurred on Paulette Road in Dundalk, with the driver sustaining minor injuries and declining treatment or transportation to a hospital, while nobody else was harmed in the crash.
