Fatal crash in Alden involving Amherst woman and tractor trailer
An 80-year-old woman from Amherst tragically passed away following a collision between an SUV and a tractor trailer in Alden on Friday. The incident occurred at the intersection of Walden Avenue and Genesee Street at approximately 4:15 p.m., as reported by the Erie County Sheriff's Office. The woman, identified as Carol Privitera, was driving eastbound on Genesee Street when her vehicle collided with a tractor trailer traveling westbound. The tractor trailer allegedly had the right-of-way to continue straight onto Walden Avenue, while Privitera made a left turn, resulting in the crash. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead en route to the hospital. The driver of the tractor trailer was unharmed and is cooperating with the investigation.
