Fatal Crash Highway 101, Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco

Male Pedestrian Struck, Killed in US 101 SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (March 24, 2025) -- A driver struck and killed a man early Monday on US Highway 101 near the Chavez Street off ramp in the Potrero Hill area of San Francisco. The deadly collision occurred on southbound US 101 around 12:51 a.m. on March 24th, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP officials reported a blue Toyota Highlander SUV was involved in a multi-vehicle collision with a dark grey Toyota RAV4 and struck the victim riding a scooter in the slow lane. Police and paramedics responded and closed the Nos. 3 and 4 southbound lanes due to the collision and issued a SigAlert. A tow truck removed the Highlander for evidence and the highway reopened to traffic by 2:40 a.m. Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Highway 101 in San Francisco.
