Fatal crash confirmed near Daviess-Henderson county line following severe weather

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Authorities are investigating an early morning fatal crash near the Daviess-Henderson county lines. According to the Daviess County Sheriff's Office, an accident with injuries was reported at 5 a.m. in the 10400 block of US Highway 60 West. Deputies say a single vehicle was located off the roadway, as well as a broken utility pole. They say the sole occupant of the car was found dead inside. The investigation determined the car was driving westbound on US 60 West, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole before rolling. Deputies say the car landed in a field "partially submerged in water" from the Friday night storms. Authorities believe the crash happened on Friday night and the car was not discovered until another passing driver almost hit downed wires. They say the driver got out of their car to investigate and discovered the crashed car in the field. Emergency crews, including Kenergy, are on the scene working to replace the utility pole and the road is expected to reopen by "mid-morning." The roadway has since reopened.
