Fatal crash concludes Tuscaloosa police chase
A fatal car crash in Tuscaloosa resulted from a police pursuit that originated when Tuscaloosa police tried to pull over a vehicle for traffic violations on Thursday evening. The chase began at Cousette Street near the I-359 overpass, with the suspect vehicle fleeing from law enforcement, swerving through intersections, veering off-road, and colliding with a culvert near Tamko Building Products. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Jaylen Reed, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. State troopers noted that less than 30 seconds passed from when police activated their lights to when the crash occurred. Officials not affiliated with the Tuscaloosa Police Department are handling the investigation into Reed's demise.
