Fatal crash causes closure of I-75 South in Anderson County
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Southbound lanes of Interstate 75 in Anderson County are closed Monday following a fatal crash. All southbound lanes of I-75 between Exit 122 (State Route 61) and Exit 128 (U.S. Route 441) are closed. According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation SmartWay map, the crash was reported at approximately 2:41 p.m. near Mile Marker 125. A spokesperson for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office told 6 News that the Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash in the area. The sheriff's office wrote on Facebook that the crash involved a tractor-trailer, and there is currently no estimate for when the roadway might reopen. Drivers are asked to seek alternate routes while emergency personnel respond to the scene.
