Fatal Crash Caused by Truck Being Sideswiped
A tragic incident occurred in Westfield Township, Ohio, resulting in the death of a 52-year-old woman who was a passenger in a pickup truck that was sideswiped, causing a fiery crash. The collision took place on Interstate 71, milepost 206, when a Chrysler sedan and a Ford pickup truck, towing a trailer, were both traveling north. The sedan was speeding when it collided with the truck, causing it to overturn, detach from the trailer, and catch fire after going over a bridge and down an embankment onto railroad tracks. Debris from the crash struck a Honda minivan also traveling on I-71. The passenger in the pickup truck, Tracy Hodgkinson, sadly passed away from her injuries after being ejected from the vehicle and taken to an Akron hospital. The driver of the pickup truck sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was also hospitalized. The driver of the sedan was unharmed. The interstate was closed for an hour and a half, and the crash is currently being investigated. It is not mentioned in the recent report whether any charges have been filed related to the incident.
