Fatal crash between vehicle and Amtrak train in Modesto
In Modesto, a tragic incident occurred when a driver was fatally struck by an Amtrak train. The collision happened on State Route 132 near Santa Fe Avenue, with reports indicating that the driver of a Chevy SUV tried to go around the crossing arms when the train hit the left side of the vehicle. The SUV caught fire during the impact, resulting in the driver's death at the scene. A passenger on the train sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances that led the driver to attempt to bypass the crossing arms. The Amtrak train involved was on its journey from Oakland to Bakersfield.
