Fatal crash between car and train on Metrolink Ventura County Line
A driver tragically lost their life on Thursday in Ventura County after their vehicle was hit by a Metrolink train at an intersection near Oxnard Plains, just outside Camarillo. Emergency responders were called to the scene at Las Posas Road and East Fifth Street before 3 p.m. The specifics of the incident are currently unclear. Fortunately, the 14 passengers and two crew members on the southbound Metrolink Train 118 did not sustain any injuries. Authorities are still investigating the details of the collision, including how far the train moved the vehicle before coming to a halt. The California Highway Patrol and Metrolink officials were active at the scene, arranging for passengers and crew members to be transported by bus to the Moorpark train station. Metrolink's Ventura County Line passengers were advised of potential delays as the tracks between Camarillo and Oxnard were shut down following the accident.
