Fatal Crash at State Road 1 and Rhein Road
The Franklin County Sheriff's Department is looking into a tragic car accident that took place at around 5:17 PM on Wednesday, September 10 at the intersection of State Road 1 and Rhein Road. Involved in the incident were a 2010 Ford Fusion and a 2021 Toyota Tacoma. Reports indicate that the Ford Fusion was entering the intersection from Rhein Road when it was hit on the driver's side by the southbound Toyota Tacoma on State Road 1. Unfortunately, the driver of the Ford Fusion, 81-year-old Rosa Banks from Laurel, lost her life at the scene. Her passenger, 33-year-old Robbie Dale Rae, sustained injuries and received treatment from emergency responders. The Toyota Tacoma driver, 32-year-old David Tyler Hokey, did not sustain any reported injuries. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing under the supervision of Sgt. Adam Henson.
