Fatal crash at rural Rupert intersection involves two vehicles.

On Saturday afternoon at approximately 2:55 p.m., a 51-year-old man driving a Dodge Caliber collided with a 2014 Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by a 74-year-old male in Minidoka County. The crash occurred when the truck driver failed to yield at a stop sign at the intersection of N 400 E and E 900 N roads. Both individuals are residents of Rupert, Idaho, according to a statement from the Idaho State Police. The Ram ended up on its side in a nearby drainage ditch, whereas the Dodge came to a stop on the shoulder. The Ram driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital where he later passed away. The Caliber driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, and the extent of his injuries is currently unknown. The Idaho State Police are investigating the incident. This serves as a critical reminder of the importance of obeying traffic signs, being cautious at intersections, and always wearing a seatbelt, particularly on rural roads. We will provide further updates on this situation as details emerge.
