Fatal crash as vehicle falls off overpass and hits light rail train near Denver.
A tragic incident occurred early Tuesday at the I-25 and C-470 interchange in the Denver metro area, where a vehicle fell off an overpass and was struck by a light rail train, resulting in the death of one person. The crash occurred around 10200 Station Way in Lone Tree just before 2 a.m. Fortunately, the light rail operator and a passenger on the train were unharmed. Emergency crews worked to clear the scene, with the on-ramp from northbound I-25 from eastbound C-470 temporarily closed and later reopened. Investigation into the accident is ongoing by Colorado State Patrol and Lone Tree police. RTD confirmed engineer and mechanic inspections to ensure safety, leading to the suspension of E Line trips temporarily. Normal service resumed on all lines by early afternoon.
