Fatal crash as car falls from overpass and collides with light rail in Lone Tree
Early Tuesday morning, a tragic incident occurred in Lone Tree where a vehicle drove off an overpass and collided with a light rail train, resulting in one fatality. Emergency services responded to the crash near 10200 Station Way at around 1:45 a.m. The vehicle became wedged between the train and the wall after falling onto the tracks. Fortunately, the train operator and a passenger were unharmed. South Metro Fire Rescue confirmed the death of a person in the car and is now working to clear the scene. The Colorado State Patrol and Lone Tree police are conducting an investigation. Due to the incident, the northbound I-25 onramp from eastbound C-470 was temporarily closed, but has since reopened. The Regional Transportation District has suspended E line trips, with shuttles replacing service along certain routes.
