Fatal crash as car becomes airborne and hits Leavenworth building

Early Saturday morning, a fatal crash occurred when a man's car became airborne and collided with a building in Leavenworth, as reported by the Kansas Highway Patrol. The incident, which took place around 4 a.m., involved a Chevrolet Corvette speeding eastbound on the 700 block of Shawnee Street. Upon hitting the road, the Corvette lost stability, spun around, and struck a curb, tree, and ultimately a building before coming to a halt on the north side of the road. Unfortunately, the driver of the Corvette, identified as 41-year-old Jeremy Head from Leavenworth, was pronounced dead at the crash site. The passenger in the Corvette sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
