Fatal crash and multiple injuries in West Garfield Park, according to police

An individual has passed away and three others were hospitalized after a collision occurred early Sunday morning on the West Side of the city. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. in the 3800 block of West Lake Street. The Chicago police reported that a 20-year-old man was driving a blue Ford sedan with three passengers, including a 22-year-old man and two other 20-year-old men, traveling eastbound when the driver ignored a traffic signal and collided with a red Chevy sedan. The 22-year-old victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The three 20-year-olds were taken to Stroger Hospital in fair condition with injuries of unknown severity. The driver of the Chevy, a 37-year-old woman, and her passenger, a 35-year-old woman, declined medical attention at the scene. Citations are pending, and the Major Accidents Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the crash.
