Fatal crash and injuries in South Side collision

Two individuals lost their lives and multiple others were hurt in a collision that occurred on the South Side of Chicago on Friday night. The accident, which took place at about 9:30 p.m. in Greater Grand Crossing on S. Vincennes Avenue, involved a grey Buick sedan and a black Dodge vehicle. The driver of the Buick, a 37-year-old woman, was heading west when she attempted to turn left and did not yield at the intersection, colliding with the eastbound Dodge. Among the occupants of the Dodge were a 15-year-old girl, 18-year-old woman, 20-year-old man, 25-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old man who was driving. Tragically, the 18-year-old woman and 20-year-old man succumbed to their injuries and were taken to University of Chicago Hospital. The 15-year-old girl, 25-year-old woman, and 26-year-old driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to different medical facilities for treatment. The Buick also struck an empty parked grey Mercedes sedan as a result of the collision. The Buick driver was cited for failure to yield during a left turn. Investigations are ongoing, and no further details have been provided by authorities.
