Fatal crash and fire in Illinois home traced to woman's death
A tragic incident occurred on Monday night in unincorporated Marengo, resulting in the death of a woman after the car she was in crashed into a home, catching fire. Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts responded to a call about a vehicle crash on River Road at 8:58 p.m., where the car was reported to have people trapped inside and was on fire. Despite efforts from police officers with fire extinguishers, the flames could not be contained. Firefighters arrived to find the car fully engulfed in flames and the home's siding melting. The woman in the car was unable to survive the incident, while a man in the vehicle managed to escape before the fire spread. The man was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, and the woman's identity has not been released.
