Fatal crash after stolen truck chase leads to murder charge
A Gainesville resident tragically lost their life on Wednesday evening during a police pursuit in Hall County involving a stolen pickup truck. The incident occurred when troopers tried to stop a blue Chevrolet Silverado that matched the description of a vehicle taken from Hardy Chevrolet in Gainesville. Despite attempts to pull over the driver, they sped away, leading to a chase. The pursuit included multiple maneuvers to stop the vehicle, but unfortunately, the driver of the Silverado ended up crashing into another vehicle on Candler Road, resulting in the death of the victim, identified as 50-year-old Agustin Rivera. The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Daniel Thomas Davis, was eventually apprehended after hitting a power pole and trying to flee on foot. Davis has been charged with various offenses and is currently in custody at the Hall County Jail. FOX 5 Atlanta is working to obtain further details about the suspect.
