Fatal collision on Palmetto Expressway
A fatal collision occurred on State Road 826/Palmetto Expressway in the early hours of Monday morning, as reported by the Florida Highway Patrol. At around 1 a.m. near Okeechobee Road, a white Mercedes-Benz SUV traveling in the wrong direction collided head-on with a white Dodge SUV, causing the Mercedes to overturn. Tragically, the front passenger in the Mercedes lost their life in the crash, while both drivers sustained serious injuries. The southbound lanes were closed for around five hours to conduct an investigation into the incident.
