Fatal collision on Northbound I-25 in Denver involving wrong-way driver
Denver police are currently investigating a collision that occurred early Sunday morning on the northbound lanes of Interstate 25. The crash involved two vehicles and resulted in one fatality and injuries to four others. The driver at fault, who was in a Dodge Caravan, was killed, while the passenger was extracted and taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. Three occupants of the other vehicle, a Subaru, were also hospitalized, two with severe injuries. The incident occurred near the 20th Street exit at approximately 3 a.m. Authorities believe the driver entered I-25 north from the Speer Street off-ramp and traveled in the wrong direction, colliding with the oncoming vehicle. Although a social media video showed the van heading the wrong way prior to the interchange, further details from the police are still pending. The deceased individual's identity has not been disclosed. Following the crash, northbound I-25 was shut down for several hours and reopened around 9 a.m.
