Fatal collision on I-10 in Ontario involves 4 semi-trucks, 4 cars
Three individuals have lost their lives and four others have been injured in a serious collision involving eight vehicles on the 10 Freeway in Ontario. The crash occurred when a semi-truck failed to stop as traffic slowed down on the westbound I-10 near the I-15 interchange. This caused a chain reaction involving four semi-trucks and four passenger cars, one of which caught fire. Three people were declared dead at the scene, and four were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. The condition of the injured individuals is currently unknown. Most westbound lanes, except for the two FasTrak lanes, are closed along with the transition roads from the I-15 to the westbound I-10. There is no timeframe for when the closed lanes will reopen, prompting commuters to find alternate routes. Witness Jason Calmelat described the devastating scene, noting that a red truck did not slow down and crashed into other vehicles at high speed, resulting in a fiery explosion.
