Fatal collision near Paramount Senior Living results in two deaths

Two individuals have tragically lost their lives following a fatal collision that occurred on Friday morning along Chambersburg Road/Route 30. The deceased have been identified by the Pennsylvania State Police as 90-year-old Edward McCartney and 87-year-old Marjorie McCartney. The incident took place in the 6300 block of Chambersburg Road in Franklin Township at approximately 10:45 a.m. The crash involved a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Edward McCartney, making an unauthorized left turn out of Paramount Senior Living. Regrettably, a 2020 Western Star 4900 traveling westbound was unable to stop in time and collided with the driver side of the Chevrolet. Both Edward and passenger Marjorie McCartney were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Police have confirmed that Edward and Marjorie were related but did not specify their exact familial relationship. The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a hospital in Hagerstown, Maryland for treatment. Route 30's eastbound lane in the affected area has been closed, while the westbound lane remains open. Authorities have reported that the cleanup of debris from the truck that scattered during the incident is taking more time than anticipated.
