
Fatal collision in Springfield kills one pedestrian, injures another
Last night in Springfield, there was a tragic incident where one pedestrian lost their life and another was injured in a collision, as reported by the Springfield Police Department (SPD). The authorities were alerted to a motor vehicle accident on W. Chestnut Expressway around 8:59 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15. The crash involved a 2016 Jeep Compass driven by Tyler Reid, 34, of Springfield, which struck two pedestrians on the road. One of the pedestrians, Ronnie Wake, 56, lost his life from the injuries sustained, while the second pedestrian suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is receiving medical care. The investigation into the crash is ongoing. Anyone with relevant information is urged to reach out to the Springfield Police Department or provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers. This incident marks the 14th fatal motor vehicle crash in Springfield in 2025, resulting in a total of 15 fatalities.
