Fatal Collision in Monroe County
Authorities in Monroe County are currently investigating a tragic collision that occurred on Friday evening. Reports of a serious traffic accident on State Road 46 just east of Stinesville Road came in at 5:18 p.m. Sheriff's Deputies arrived at the scene to discover two vehicles had collided head-on. Sadly, one of the drivers was declared deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased driver, from Spencer, Indiana, has not been disclosed by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office. The other driver, identified as 62-year-old Cindy Bentley of Spencer, Indiana, sustained severe injuries and required extraction from the vehicle. Cindy Bentley was airlifted to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. At last update at 7:55 p.m., the sheriff's office reported that the site was still being cleared, with Deputies on hand to manage traffic flow.
