Fatal collision claims life of Lansing resident in Eaton County

A 42-year-old man from Lansing tragically lost his life in a fatal collision between two vehicles in Eaton County, as reported by the Michigan State Police (MSP). The incident took place on Tuesday morning at the intersection of M-43 Hwy. and Benton Rd. in Oneida Township. According to the MSP Lansing Post troopers, the crash involved a 2002 Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by an 18-year-old Grand Ledge man, and a 2011 Ford Focus driven by the victim. The preliminary investigation indicated that the pickup failed to stop at a sign on Benton Rd., colliding with the Focus traveling eastbound. The man from Lansing sustained severe injuries and was rushed to UM Health-Sparrow in Lansing, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead. The young driver was also hospitalized for serious injuries, and his condition remains uncertain. The authorities have closed M-43 Hwy. at Benton Rd. for investigation, marking the second fatal crash in two days resulting from a driver ignoring a stop sign on a rural road.
