A fatal accident occurred when an Amtrak train collided with a Toyota 4Runner near Round Rock. The incident happened around 10 a.m., as per information shared by the Texas Department of Public Safety representative Billy Ray. The driver of the SUV passed away in the collision, which took place close to U.S. Highway 79 and County Road 110 as per the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. Details regarding the cause of the accident remain unclear. The unguarded railroad crossing leading to private property was where the crash happened. Fortunately, the 71 passengers and crew onboard the train from San Antonio to Chicago were reported to be safe. Investigation into the crash is ongoing, and traffic was reportedly not disrupted. This incident joins another tragic collision involving an Amtrak train within the last two years in Williamson County.
