Fatal collision between 3 tractor-trailers on I-65 in NW Indiana

A tragic collision involving three tractor-trailers occurred on Tuesday morning on Interstate 65 in northwest Indiana. The incident happened at approximately 4 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-65 near State Road 14 in Fair Oaks, as reported by Indiana State Police. One of the trucks was transporting peat moss and caught fire, with the flames repeatedly reigniting, complicating the cleanup process. All southbound lanes have been shut down as authorities conduct their investigation. Once the fire is completely put out, crews will work on clearing the damaged vehicles from the highway. There is currently no estimate for when the interstate will reopen, according to police. Motorists are encouraged to take U.S. 41 or U.S. 231 as alternate routes. More information is expected to be provided later in the morning.
