Fatal Collision After Police Pursuit in East Bay

A tragic incident occurred in Pittsburg on Sunday when a vehicle being pursued by the California Highway Patrol collided with another car, resulting in the death of a passenger. The crash took place in the early hours of the morning as officers tried to stop a stolen gray Infiniti that had run a red light. The driver of the Infiniti, allegedly armed and speeding at over 100 mph, led officers on a brief chase until the collision occurred at an intersection. Both drivers were injured and taken to a hospital, while sadly, the passenger in the other car did not survive. The Contra Costa County District Attorney's office is investigating the incident, with the Pittsburg Police Department leading the criminal investigation. The CHP has initiated its fatal incident protocol in response to the accident.
