Fatal Carlsbad crash leads to driver's arrest
A tragic incident occurred in Carlsbad on Friday morning where a pedestrian was struck and killed in a residential area. The driver initially fled the scene but later returned and was arrested. The Carlsbad Police responded to the collision at Tamarack Avenue and Skyline Road and found the pedestrian deceased. The driver, identified as Paul Hiniker, 57, was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal collision and vehicular manslaughter. The pedestrian's identity will be disclosed by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. The police department stated that alcohol is not suspected to be a contributing factor in the incident, and the cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
