Fatal car wreck in Columbiana County

An investigation is underway by the Ohio State Highway Patrol regarding a fatal car collision that occurred in Columbiana County early Saturday morning. The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on State Route 39, just west of the Tenth Street Extension. Authorities reported that a 2012 Fiat hatchback veered off the road on a curve while traveling northwest on SR 39. The vehicle collided with a guardrail, an electric pole, and two trees, causing it to catch fire and ultimately become fully engulfed. The driver tragically lost their life at the scene. State Route 39 had to be shut down in both directions for approximately two-and-a-half hours for cleanup. The crash remains under investigation and the identity of the driver has not yet been disclosed.
