Fatal car crash in Seat Pleasant claims the life of a woman

In Seat Pleasant, Maryland, a tragic two-vehicle collision claimed the life of a young mother, Shaunte Denise Canty, from Washington, D.C. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when local officers spotted a stolen car in the Seat Pleasant Drive and Joplin Street vicinity. Following from a distance without initiating a pursuit, the stolen car accelerated northbound on Sheriff Road and collided with Canty's vehicle after running a red light. Canty was declared deceased at the scene, while her child, a passenger in the car, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The stolen car carried four juveniles, three of whom were hospitalized with minor injuries. One juvenile was apprehended and charges for all involved are pending.
