A tragic incident occurred north of downtown Las Vegas early Tuesday morning, resulting in the death of a woman who was struck by a car that had lost control and crashed into a light pole. The driver, who is now facing various charges including DUI, caused the accident on N. Main Street and E. Owens Avenue near Las Vegas Boulevard. The car hit the woman on the sidewalk, then collided with a light pole and power box. The vehicle was speeding on Owens when the driver tried to avoid stopped traffic, leading to the loss of control. Both driver and passenger initially fled the scene but were later apprehended. The driver underwent testing for alcohol levels, and the lanes in the vicinity have been closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes while authorities process the scene. The identity of the deceased woman will be disclosed by the Clark County coroner's office.
