
Fatal car accident results in one death following a stolen vehicle pursuit in Mansfield
Mansfield Police officers received reports of a vehicle with a stolen license plate entering the city on FM 917 on Sunday, May 11, at around 11 a.m. The officers located the suspect vehicle on Towne Crossing Blvd. The vehicle, with a driver and a front-seat passenger, fled the area and headed southbound on U.S. 287 from N. Walnut Creek Drive. The suspect vehicle continued to evade officers and eventually entered Midlothian, reaching the 4000 block of West U.S. 287 where it collided with another vehicle. Tragically, the driver of the suspect vehicle was ejected and pronounced deceased at the scene, while the front-seat passenger was airlifted to Methodist Central Hospital in Dallas in critical condition. All occupants of the second vehicle were taken to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and front-seat passenger of the suspect vehicle have not been identified yet. It was later confirmed that the vehicle was stolen from Grand Prairie. The Midlothian Police Department is currently investigating the accident.
