Fatal car accident in Oakland injures one and kills another
An incident in Oakland involving a vehicle chase by the California Highway Patrol led to a tragic crash with two pedestrians on Wednesday night. Sadly, one pedestrian lost their life, while the other sustained injuries. The accident occurred near 12th Avenue and East 21st Street after the pursuit was called off. The vehicle involved in the chase continued recklessly and collided with the pedestrians, a man and a woman. Despite efforts by police and medical personnel, the man passed away at the scene, while the woman survived and is now in stable condition after being discharged from the hospital. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Eric Scott Hernandez-Garcia, was arrested after fleeing the crash scene. This devastating event has raised concerns about high-speed pursuits and calls for reevaluation of current pursuit policies to avoid such tragedies in the future.
