
Fatal bus accident in West Sumatra, Indonesia: 12 dead, 5 injured
A tragic accident in Padang Panjang city, West Sumatra province, Indonesia, resulted in the loss of at least 12 lives with more than five others sustaining injuries. The incident involved a bus, owned by the company Antar Lintas Sumatra (ALS), that was traveling on the Medan-Jakarta route. The bus, which was reportedly traveling at high speed, lost control and overturned after its brakes malfunctioned. The head of the transport department in Padang Panjang, Arkes Refagus, mentioned that the bus failed to navigate a turn and crashed into a house's fence. Fortunately, the driver survived due to being seated on the right side when the bus flipped to the left. Refagus also confirmed that there were 25 passengers on board, all of whom were taken to local hospitals.
