Fatal boating incident on Barnegat Bay
New Jersey State Police reported that an incident off Long Beach Island led to the death of one man after both occupants were thrown from a boat. The accident occurred near Intercoastal Waterway buoy 116 off Little Egg Harbor and response teams arrived at the scene at 10 a.m. Karl Chen, 56, from Princeton, was the fatality. According to State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a 27-foot Robalo vessel hit a large wake, ejecting both men, with the boat striking one of them. The other occupant was rescued by a nearby boat with minor injuries. The State Police are currently investigating the incident.
