Fatal boating incident claims lives of two Canadian teens, according to police

Two teenagers lost their lives following a personal watercraft incident on Lake St. Clair near Lakeshore, as confirmed by the Ontario Provincial Police from Essex County. The tragic accident, which occurred on August 14, involved a total of four teens aged between 15 and 17, all of whom sustained injuries. Prompt response from first responders and EMS led to the rescue of the four individuals from the lake. Sadly, a 17-year-old girl from Windsor was declared deceased at the hospital shortly after the 2 p.m. incident, while another 16-year-old girl from Calgary passed away on Wednesday due to her injuries. The injured girls, aged 15 and 17, were admitted to the hospital, with their injuries reported as non-life-threatening. An investigation into the marine accident is ongoing, being conducted by the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team, Essex County OPP Marine Unit, and officers from the Lakeshore OPP Detachment. Police have requested anyone with pertinent information to contact the Lakeshore OPP at 888-310-1122 to aid in the investigation. The department conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the affected families and individuals involved in this heartbreaking incident.
