
Fatal boating accident in South Carolina involves 2 individuals and 2 dogs
A tragic boating accident occurred on Friday in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and two dogs. The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources responded to the capsized 23-foot vessel in Skull Creek, Beaufort County. Two injured people were rescued and taken to Hilton Head Hospital, while two individuals and two dogs were discovered missing. SCDNR divers retrieved the bodies of the missing individuals and dogs from the overturned boat. The SCDNR is conducting an investigation into the incident, which preliminary findings suggest was caused by the vessel striking a day marker on the Intracoastal Waterway. The deceased vessel operator has been identified as James Montgomery, 76, along with Patsy Montgomery, 73, both of Bluffton. As of now, no criminal charges are anticipated.
