Fatal boat crash in New Jersey leaves 1 dead, 1 injured
In Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey, a tragic boating incident occurred on Sunday morning resulting in the death of one boater and injuries to another. The New Jersey State Police reported that both occupants of the boat were thrown into Barnegat Bay after hitting a wake near ICW Marker 116. The vessel, a 27-foot Robalo, hit a significant wake causing the passengers to be ejected. Sadly, Karl Chen, 56, of Princeton, lost his life, while the other occupant suffered minor injuries. The boat continued to circle, ultimately striking one of the passengers. The investigation is still ongoing as state police work to determine the details of the accident. This unfortunate event took place amidst rough surf and dangerous rip currents along the Jersey shore and East Coast due to Hurricane Erin.
