Fatal ATV crash in northern Minnesota reported by sheriff

Authorities in northern Minnesota are currently investigating a tragic ATV accident that claimed the lives of two individuals on Saturday evening. The incident occurred close to 9:20 p.m. on Ditch Bank Forest Road in Progress Township, situated approximately 40 miles west of Duluth. The victims, a 48-year-old woman from the Cloquet area and a 59-year-old man from out of state, unfortunately did not survive despite attempts by bystanders to perform CPR. The identities of the deceased will be shared pending notification of their families. Carlton County Sheriff Kelly Lake revealed that the pair had been part of a group riding in a side-by-side ATV but got separated before their vehicle overturned in water. Sadly, this incident follows a previous ATV fatality in the region involving a 26-year-old firefighter, Tia Muller, who lost her life and her husband sustained severe injuries at the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area, located about 70 miles northeast of Progress Township.
