
Fatal airplane crash near West Yellowstone
A tragic airplane crash near West Yellowstone resulted in the loss of three lives last week. The aircraft took off from West Yellowstone Airport late on Thursday, July 17, with three people aboard. A call about a potential crash was received on Friday afternoon, prompting a search operation. Using data from a passenger's smartwatch, search planes located the wreckage in dense woodland south of West Yellowstone at 2:13 p.m. The victims have been identified as Rodney Conover, 60, Madison Conover, 23, from Tennessee, and Kurt Enoch Robey, 55, from Utah, with their families notified. The FAA and NTSB are currently investigating the crash cause. Sheriff Dan Springer expressed gratitude to agencies including Gallatin County Search and Rescue, Hebgen Basin Rural Fire District, U.S. Forest Service, FAA, and NTSB for their efforts in the search, recovery, and ongoing investigation.
