Fatal Adams County wrong-way crash on I-76: 1 dead, 2 injured

A fatal accident occurred on Friday night in Adams County, Colorado, where one person was killed and two others were injured in a collision on Interstate 76 involving a pickup truck and a sedan. The crash took place in the westbound lanes between Federal Boulevard and N. Pecos Street when the truck, traveling the wrong way, collided head-on with the sedan. Despite efforts by emergency crews, one of the passengers in the truck did not survive. The trapped driver was extricated and both were taken to the hospital. The condition of those injured is currently unknown. The incident involved responders from various agencies, including the Westminster Fire Department, Colorado State Patrol, and Adams County Sheriff's Office. The identity of the deceased will be revealed by the Adams County Coroner’s Office. This tragic event marks the second consecutive weekend with deadly wrong-way crashes on Colorado highways, with a similar incident occurring on Interstate 25 in Denver the previous weekend. In that incident, a wrong-way driver in a minivan lost their life, and four others were injured in the collision. Prior to the Denver crash, the same minivan was noted driving in the wrong direction near Mead and narrowly avoided a collision with a Colorado State Patrol vehicle.
